Is this even possible? Well, if you ask me, there are no good Christians. Only sinful people in a fallen world saved by the mercy and grace of God, through his Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us, “So I am not the one living now – it is Christ living in me. I still live in my body, but I live by faith in the Son of God. He is the one who loved me and gave himself to save me” (Galatians 2:20, Easy read version).
It is through Christ, and Christ alone that I live, have a present life, and have a prospect of future glory. The present aspect of our salvation is Christ living in us by His Holy Spirit. I try hard every day to show the love of Christ to those around me. You know what, I still fail at that. I still fail! I still have a temper, I still have anger problems. I am a married man, I am still tempted with lust. I said, “I try hard every day to show the love of Christ to those around me.”
Maybe that is the problem. Maybe I need to quit trying so hard. God does not ask us to live the Christian life, but wants us to yield to him, and allow Christ to live it for us. That doesn’t mean that we have to do nothing. We have to put our faith and trust in Christ, and Christ alone. We have to reprogram ourselves with the word of God, instead of the worldly word. When God created everything he saw it and said, “It was very good” (Genesis 1:31). Everything God created was good. Even you! You know why He said it was good? Because it was serving its purpose for what it was created for.
Are you serving your purpose? The only way we can truly do that is by yielding to God, and allowing Christ to live through us.
